Don’t forget to check this one

Actually, this is sort of note to self sort of thing. Seems like I’ve come to use this blog as a placeholder for things I want to blog about or think about at a later time.

Sharon’s EF Integrated Academic Skills blog crossed my radar again today. I linked to it a couple of weeks ago. Her class looks like a both of fun – from either the the student or instructor perspective!!

Cylinder Preservation Project

From the Department of Special Collections at University of California, Santa Barbara comes this huge collection of digitized cylinder recordings. Seems like this would be a great resource for a student or researcher trying to put together multimedia piece on early 20th century life.

If nothing else, it’s a nice place to escape from the daily grind for just a few moments.

I was particularly taken with this 1921 recording of the Imperial Marimba Band doing the 12th Street Rag.
